The first round of the 2008 Tour d'Michigan took place on 10 May 08 at the West Michigan Smoke Rings flying circle located on the grounds of the Air Zoo in Kalamazoo, Michigan. A full schedule of events provided for a great deal of fun competetion for the large number of flyers who attended. The facilities included a concrete pilot's pad, a covered patio, and a Porta Potty (yay!!). The weather was good and the flying was fun. The large number of beautiful aircraft provided plenty of eye candy for participants and visitors. Refreshments provided by the host club kept everyone fed and happy, and a fun raffle sent many away with some great door prizes. The great day concluded with the presentation of award certificates signed by AMA Hall of Fame Member Bob Gialdini. For those not familiar with the name, Bob is a twice National Stunt Champion, Walker Cup winner, a 3rd place finisher in world stunt competition and is the designer of the famous Olympic, Stingray, and Rayette. |
